After a very close first set, RC CANNES could go up 1:0 anchored by the spikes killed by Nadia Centoni who was well supported by the Serbian duo composed by Milena Rasic and Brankica Mihajlovic. With a great performance contributed by Mihajlovic, the blocks by team captain Victoria Ravva and the defense of libero Chiara Arcangeli, RC CANNES could impose its supremacy also in the second set thereby delighting a massive audience of almost 3’000 fans in attendance tonight at “Palais des Victoires”.
However, Vakifbank got back on track in set 3 opening with a terrific 8:2 and cruising to the final 25-20 anchored by Jovana Brakocevic and Gözde Sonsirma Kirdar. The hosts from Turkey could impose their rule in set 4 as RC CANNES was having real problems in defense and even though the local heroines attempted a comeback in the tie-break, it was then Vakifbank to set the pace of the game up to the final 15-11 pocketed by Malgorzata Glinka.
Mihajlovic top scored for RC CANNES with 21 points while Brakocevic paced Vakifbank with 23, with Sonsirma Kirdar and Glinka registering 19 apiece.
