VINTAGE VOLLEYBALL: Japan won first ever Olympic gold 1964 (VIDEO)

In the opening edition of the volleyball Olympic tournament in Tokyo 1964, Women’s team of Japan won the first gold.

In the final they defeated Soviet Union with 3-0 (15-11, 15-8, 15-13).

Team of Japan: Masae Kasai, Emiko Miyamoto, Kinuko Tanida, Yuriko Handa, Yoshiko Matsumura, Sata Isobe, Katsumi Matsumura, Yoko Shinozaki, Setsuko Sasaki, Yuko Fujimoto, Maseko Kondo, Ayano Shibuki.
