Al Arabi SC and coach Igor Arbutina have confirmed that they will not be continuing their collaboration due to unmet conditions, marking the end of their partnership.
Throughout the current season, Al Arabi SC has displayed a commendable performance, making it to two finals. However, on both occasions, they were overpowered by Al Rayyan SC, who lived up to expectations and showcased an unyielding dominance in Qatar’s volleyball landscape.
Despite the separation, Al Arabi SC has demonstrated significant progress compared to their performance in the past two seasons. They successfully clinched the second spot in the championship, showcased their prowess by reaching the finals, and secured the runner-up position in the Gulf’s most prestigious event, the Emir Cup. Their recent accomplishments signal an optimistic intent to vie for top honors in the upcoming season.
In a strategic move to enhance their performance and challenge the hegemony of Al Rayyan SC, Al Arabi SC has enlisted two new players for their squad. Russian experienced outside hitter Aleksei Spiridonov will be joining the team. Alongside him, Gabriel José da Silva Cândido, a Brazilian opposite, is reportedly joining Al Arabi SC from Poitiers, France.
