Turkish powerhouse Galatasaray HDI Sigorta has signed Czech-Italian outside hitter Jiri Kovar on a one-year contract.
Kovar, who played for Panathinaikos in Greece last season, has a decorated career with stints at Cucine Lube Civitanova, Volley Treviso, Verona Volley, and Pallavolo Loreto. The 1989-born spiker began his professional journey with Sisley Treviso in 2006 and has amassed titles including a Champions League, Club World Championship, CEV Cup, six Italian Serie A1 titles, three Italian Cups, an Italian Serie A2 title, two Italian Super Cups, two Greek League Cups, and a Greek Super Cup. However, the most significant impact Kovar made was during his 11-year tenure at Lube Volley Civitanova. During this period, he secured 13 titles while wearing the club’s red and white colors, cementing his status as the most successful player in the club’s history.
