One of the greatest coaches in the history of world volleyball, Bernardinho, received a gift today when he turns 63 years old. The expert, who commanded men’s and women’s national teams of Brazil to six Olympic podiums in a row (two golds, silvers, bronzes each) and won more than 25 other major titles while he was at the helm of ’Seleção’, has his work portrayed in the documentary “Volleyball, sweat and glory (Vôlei, suor e glórias)“, which will be released tonight on the Olympic Channel. The independent production, directed by filmmaker Alexandre Magno, has institutional support from the Brazilain Olympic Committee (COB) and has strong testimonies, such as of coaches José Roberto Guimarães ’Zé Roberto’and Renan Dal Zotto, and many stars of the Brazilian volleyball players, such as Bruninho, Fabi, Serginho, Bernard, Fofão, Giovane, Fernanda Venturini, among others.

Lasting one hour, the film aims to immortalize Bernardinho’s work methodology, which proved to be more than a winner and changed the way volleyball is played around the world. The main star of the documentary said he hopes his work will remain as a legacy, adding jokingly: “But I’m still active, please don’t retire me.“
