Viktor Sidelnikov will stay at the helm of Zenit St. Petersburg for the 2023/2024 season, according to Russian sports news outlet BO Sport. His tenure with Zenit began in February 2023, following the departure of his predecessor, Andrey Tolochko.
Sidelnikov’s coaching career took root in Kazan. From 2001 to 2008, he guided Zenit Kazan to numerous victories, promoting the team to the super league and achieving triumphs in the Champions League (2008), the Russian championship (2007), and the Russian Cup (2004).
His international career saw him in leadership roles at the Belarusian team Shakhtior Soligorsk (2012/2013), Austria’s Vienna Hot Volleys (2009/2010), and Romania’s Tomis Constanta (2010/2011). Notably, Sidelnikov led the Belarus national team (2009–2011, 2012–2015) to their first-ever appearance in the final part of the European championship in 2012.
He later managed Yaroslavich Yaroslavl (2015–2018), successfully promoting the team to the super league in 2017. Sidelnikov also had a brief stint coaching Ural Ufa during the 2019/2020 season.
