Sohu reported that tthree teams in China are battling for Zhu’s signature for the next season after she parted ways with the Turkish side VakifBank in order to better prepare for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. These teams are Beijing, Tianjin and Guangdong. And it seems logical knowing that these three sides, plus Shanghai, are only clubs in the Chinese Super League that have budgets to cover a transfer of such a player like Zhu. Shanghai are not in contention for the signature of the Rio Olympics MVP given that they already hired a foreign duo, which means that Zhu would not have enough room to be the main attacking option.
Recall that before moving to VakifBank in 2016, Zhu defended the colors of Henan, who were far from the top teams in the Super League last season.
As for the trio of clubs that battles for hiring Zhu, according to Sohu, Tianjin and Guangdong have the most chances from the point of view of the lineups they currently have. That is because Beijing have signed an American outside hitter Bartsch and kept the country’s national team member Liu Xiaotong who is playing on the same position as Zhu. Beijing also kept opposite hitter and another China national team player Zeng Chunlei. It is obvious how crowded it will be in Beijing next season in terms of who will get the most balls in the attack.
Tianjin might have an upper hand in acquiring Zhu given that the club is based in the birthplace of China head coach Lang Ping. This means that the expert would have a chance to make sure on Zhu’s shape on regular basis.
