There was a long talk between the management of the club and Kawka but the coach did eventually not change his mind.
“The team has been playing very bad and we have gone through many troubles. The expectations of our sponsors, fans, players and their agents are really high but right now we can’t fulfil them. I still do not see any progress in our game, and we make loads of mistakes” Kawka added. “I hate losing and can’t live with continuous failures. Since Tauron MKS is the most important part of my life, I could not make any other decision but to resign”.
Tauron MKS has appointed 34-year old Nicola Negro as their new mentor. “Though he is a young coach, he is very ambitious and has a lot of experience” club President Robert Kocma stressed. “Negro has been working together with Alessandro Chiappini as his assistant while the latter mentored Turkey’s national team, Atom Trefl SOPOT and most recently Azerrail BAKU. He will join forces with Leszek Rus, who has been assisting Kawka up to now.”
Negro will arrive in Dabrowa Gornicza on Saturday so for the CL match coming up on Thursday night against Volero ZÜRICH Kocma tried to persuade Kawka to travel to Switzerland with the team. Kawka did not accept this proposal and so the team will be under the guidance of Rus for this game.
