Now it is certain - the CEV Champions League game in Turkey, Arkas Spor İzmir – Belogorie Belgorod, definitely won’t be played today as scheduled. Due to decision of the Russian Volleyball Federation to ban Belogorie to travel to Turkey, Russian team might suffer technical defeat.

„It is certain to say that the game in Turkey, scheduled for today, will not be played. The Russian side proposed to move the game on January 13. Now, the CEV together with the Turks, will discuss if the transfer is possible. In the end, it all depends on the Turkish side. It will be difficult to convince them, but it’s normal, since Arkas have their competition schedule and a training plan. Let’s hope, of course, that the game will be transferred rather than end with a technical defeat of Belogorie, but chance is little,“ said the head of the commission for European cups in European Volleyball Confederation (CEV), Roman Stanislavov.

The other match that is also officially canceled is between Ziraat Bankası Ankara and Dinamo Moscow, scheduled for tomorrow, December 2.

The entire confusion started with the decision of the Russian Volleyball Federation not to allow its teams to travel to Turkey after incident on Syrian-Turkish border.
