Slovenian national team member Rok Možič has undergone surgery on his left ankle. The 22-year-old outside hitter will likely miss the upcoming Volleyball Nations League (VNL) as he recuperates. Možič’s procedure, an arthroscopy performed on April 23, involved the removal and polishing of a bone fragment near his Achilles tendon, a result of the significant stress and impact from playing.
The injury, which Možič admitted caused severe pain throughout the season, forced him to play through discomfort, impacting his performance. His rehabilitation is expected to last approximately one month, with a gradual return to the court planned thereafter. Možič expressed his eagerness to return to play pain-free and to help his team qualify for the Olympic Games.
Slovenia, aiming for one of the remaining four Olympic slots, will participate in the VNL starting in May, with tournaments scheduled in Antalya, Chiba, and a final round in Ljubljana. Možič’s absence is a significant blow to the Slovenian squad as they prepare for these crucial matches.
