The classic of the State of São Paulo closed the first half of the 2019/20 Brazilian Men’s Volleyball Championship regular season.

The first half of the 2019/20 Superliga Masculina regular season ended with the marathon “Clásico Paulista“ in which Sesi-SP beat EMS Taubaté Funvic in 2 hours and 36 minutes of a play! It was a repeat of the last season’s playoff finals and it has brought a lot of excitement. The decision regarding the winner of a duel was made in the tie-break that went deep into the overtime and rounded up a full comeback of Sesi from 0-2 to 3-2. Alan Souza top-scored for the winning side with 21 points. Lucas Barreto made 5 kill blocks and an 83% attack (10/12). Ricardo Lucarelli, Moroccan Mohamed Al Hachdadi, and Lucas Saatkamp scored 20 points apiece for the champions Taubaté, who suffered their 3rd defeat in a row. However, they remained 2nd placed in the charts with 26 points (8-3). With this victory, Sesi came in 3rd with 25 points (9-2).

The leaders Sada Cruzeiro (10-1) recorded the 5th successive triumph in the competition and now have 4 points more than Taubaté. Vôlei Renata extended their winning streak to 4 games.

Fiat/Minas – América Vôlei 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-18)

Sesc RJ – Pacaembu Ribeirão Preto 3-0 (25-13, 25-15, 26-24)

January 9:

Sada Cruzeiro – Ponta Grossa Vôlei 3-0 (25-15, 25-21, 25-19)

Vôlei Renata – Vôlei UM Itapetininga 3-0 (25-22, 25-16, 25-19)

Sesi-SP – EMS Taubaté Funvic 3-2 (18-25, 22-25, 30-28, 25-19, 22-20)
