The team selected by Bernardo Rezende quickly stormed past its eternal rivals, Argentina 3-0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-16). The libero of Brazil, Serginho, was named the MVP of the tournament.
Brazil took, believe it or not, the 30th title in South American Championship out of 31 editions! They didn’t win it only in 1964 when they didn’t participate.
The final in Maceió was the 16th between Argentina and Brazil at continental tournament and these two teams are consecutively in the race for the gold since 2005.
Colombia took bronze after beating Venezuela 3-0 (25-21, 27-25, 25-21).
