Coach Ze Roberto still didn’t make a list of the players which he will call to participate in the National team of Brazil, but he opens the door to Tifanny Pereira Da Abreu who was the best player of Genter Volei Bauru in the Superliga.
Tifanny has the endorsement of the International Olympic Committee to be called. That is why Zé does not see the problem if the player appears in the next call, scheduled for April 16. Recall that she will be the first trans player to appear in some FIVB competition.
“It’s always complicated to make a list with the names for the National team and the call for Tifanny will depend of the situation what happens. If she is eligible by IOC, FIVB and CBV, than she is eligible for the National team. She showed a good level and for sure she’s a good attacker. She needs to improve in other ways but she has a level. Let’s wait for the final desition of the mention Federations and then we will see” said Ze Roberto for globoesporte.globo.com.
Brazilian coach knows that they will have a busy year so gradually thinks about the list.
“We’re working on the list, exchanging ideas. We will have two very close competitions. We don’t have the time or space to work with a large group. Fernanda Garay wants to be a mother, it’s natural. When you do not count on a player like Fernanda Garay, it’s always worrying but we left the doors open for her. There can always be the possibility to return because she is in exceptional shape.“

Scandal!
mixed volleyball games ok or play in the gender where he/she is born into
Re: @Daryl
It does not matter if Tiffany was born male or female. What matters is that Tiffany is a woman now and she will play with the females.
Re: @Tyson not a biological woman. When was the last time did you see a female volleyball player in her 30s still play at that good level? Even Gamova on dope was not as good as Tifanny after her transition. Simply a strange choice by IOC and FIVB.
Re: @so what? tiffany is from Brasil and FIVB president also…
Re: @so what?
Carol Gataz is 38 and she`s playing great, just won MVP at the South America Championship. Piccinini is almost 40 and still of the best OH in the World. Barun is 37 and last season she won scudetto and MVP.
Tiffanny is not a woman. He´s a transgender, a man that lives using the appearance of a woman.
Transgender (male to female) has unfair advantage to biological women in physical aspects such strength, muscle mass, etc. Transgender can play on recreational level only. Does Tiffany have to deal with menstral cycle? Besides, Tiffany played as a professional in men’s league before. That alone is already an advantage.
I do not think national teams except Brazil or team that has a transgender (m to f) will support the move allowing transgender to participate in international competitions when national pride is on the line. Ethnicity can also put an athlete in disadvantage such as height, body built, etc in a lot of sports i.e. Asians generally are average in height and are smaller in built which already put this group at a disadvantage. Height and built are factors that put an advantage to an athlete that has these attributes in competitive sports.
That´s silly. First, Tiffanny is not even a woman. He didn´t reopened anything. He was not even among the best players in the league and his performance on the latest games was awful. He only got the record of most points in a game because the setter intentionally made all plays for him in that game, and even so, Tandara tied the record.
