It doesn’t happen quite often but the exact same eight teams that managed to go through to the quarterfinals of the CEV Women’s Volleyball Champions League last year pulled it off this year, too.

There were no sensational outcomes in terms of big names staying out of the Playoffs like in men’s competition. Looking at the names of the clubs, this year’s quarterfinals will be a repeat of the last year’s. Italy and Turkey have three representatives each, while Russia and Germany have one each.

There will be no mutual encounters of teams from the same country although the odds for that were high prior to the Drawing of Lots. However, two rivals will face in a repeat of the last year’s quarterfinals: Russia’s Dinamo Moscow and Turkey’s VakıfBank İstanbul.

The next stage of the event will be played on March 3-5, with the rematches set for one week later. The Super Final, at the Max-Schmeling-Halle in Berlin, Germany, is scheduled for May 16. This is the outcome of the draw for the quarterfinals organized in the CEV headquarters in Luxembourg.
