VakıfBank became the first team to secure a slot in the semi-finals of the CEV Champions League Volley 2022 | Women, doing so for the 10th time in a row in the top-tier European club competition. Last week, the rookies Developres prevailed 3-2. The rematch brought a fierce fight that ended with a 4-set victory of the reigning club world champions. VakıfBank dominated the first 2 sets, while the remaining 2 presented leveled play in which the Rzeszów side had a chance to take both of those sets but took only one.

The Swede Isabelle Haak was VakıfBank’s best player today, scoring 28 points. Zehra Güneş served 4 aces, while American Michelle Bartsch-Hackley made 4 blocks and 71% reception (17 digs, 65% excellent). On the way to the SuperFinals (or home and away match in the final – it’s not yet decided), VakıfBank will face the rival from the domestic Sultanlar Ligi, Fenerbahçe Opet İstanbul (advanced to semis without a fight due to the expulsion of Russia’s Lokomotiv Kaliningrad Region).
