Ziraat Bankası Ankara are not in a crisis when it comes to the 2018 CEV Men’s Volleyball Cup.

Unlike Turkish championship in which they lost four games in a row, Ziraat Bankası Ankara play relatively smoothly in European competition, making a 5-0 record as they defeated Belgian side Lindemans Aalst in the 1st leg of the 2018 CEV Cup quarterfinals, 3-1 (23-25, 25-19, 25-21, 25-19).

Ziraat fans recognized their players needed support to overcome the bad momentum from the national league and filled the stands of the Başkent gymnasium halfway (3,100 spectators). But, they were a bit scared the scenario from the Efeler Ligi might repeat in today’s CEV Cup match as Ziraat lost the first set.

Still, thanks to 18 points from Italian Oleg Antonov and 4 kill blocks from Koray Şahin, the team from the Turkish capital prevailed. The Finnish Antti Sakari Mäkinen and Gert van Walle scored 11 points apiece for Lindemans.
