Beating No.2 Roeselare in five of six encounters this season before the Volley League finals gave a mental upper hand to the top-seed Maaseik, which they exploited perfectly in the opening game of the series, 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-19).
Game 2 of the best-of-five playoff finals will be played on April 25.
