The FIVB Executive Committee approved a proposal to create an Athletes Commission which will start working after next year's Congress. A proposal will now come into hands of the Board of Administration for its approval.

The Athletes Commission of the International Volleyball Federation should include active and retired players (less than eight years from the last FIVB or Olympic Games event at the time of nomination).

It will have one key only –  to propose criteria for election of the volleyball athletes as of 2020.

The immediate mission of the Commission will be to promote the values of volleyball as a clean sport, to spread information to athletes regarding medical and anti-doping matters, to study proposals for the players’ post-career opportunities and to provide feedback on FIVB competitions with one of the goals – to propose improvements.
