Russia national team closed the first chapter of the FIVB Men’s Volleyball Nations League, a tournament that replaced a traditional FIVB World League, by winning the gold medal. „Zbornaya“ also set the bar high for other throne pretenders in the next editions of the VNL by making a perfect record throughout Final Six (4-0) and nearly flawless set-ratio (12-1).

An old fox Sergey Shlyapnikov knew what tactics to prepare in order to stop the steaming French locomotive in front of more than 10,000 rival’s spectators.

„We’re really happy, it’s wonderful. We worked hard and for a long time; it has been successful. The thing is, we knew that if they had passed the ball well, it would’ve been difficult for our middle blockers, so that’s why we focused on our service,“ Russia head coach explained why his players have served so well in the final against France.
