Lyon and Arcada Galati wrote history – 92 points in one set!

The French team Lyon and Romanian side Arcada Galati have written the history of a modern volleyball with their match in the 2016 CEV Men's Challenge Cup.

Since the FIVB changed the rules in 2000 to use the current scoring system (rally point system), these two teams scored the highest number of points per set in volleyball when it comes to matches in European cups.

This is still the unofficial information but we are pretty much sure that 92 points (47-45) in the second set is in the top 5 in a modern volleyball.

The world record holders are Korean teams Jumbos and Rush & Cash with 110 points in a set – 56-54.

Recall that Lyon won the match by a 3-0 (25-15, 47-45, 25-22) and, after beating the rivals in the golden set ba a 15-10, they advanced to the next round of the 2016 CEV Challenge Cup.

You could imagine how much excitement this set brought to the fans…

Cuneo vs Treviso 52-54, regular season Italian Serie A men in 2001
I don’t know if there are other match with higher score

It’s not. In the Italian Serie A1 on 13.01.2002 Cuneo – Treviso scored 52-54 in the second set of the game.
