WL: Germany overpower Japan in opening fixture

Germany defeated Japan in straight sets (28-26, 25-19, 25-16) in the opening Pool D match of the FIVB World League on Friday evening.

The two teams are historically matched, with four wins each in previous FIVB meetings, but in front of a crowd of 1,500, a German side missing star player Georg Grozer did the job in just 88 minutes.
