Although there’s no official statement from any of the clubs, there are appeals from some of them to postpone the beginning of the next season in the Italian men’s volleyball Championship.

The fact is that foreign players (especially non-EU citizens), whose number is huge under contracts with clubs in SuperLega for 2020/21 and many are considered big stars of world volleyball, are still stuck in their home countries. Some still don’t even have the documents to play in Italy, while others are blocked by the COVID-19 situation in their countries. As it seems from this point of view, because of the new wave of the pandemic, the situation of uncertainty could last for many weeks.

According to Gian Luca Pasini, some clubs unofficially proposed the postponement of the start of the 2020/21 regular season in order to have the whole team gathered and to have more time for the preparation altogether.
