According to Gian Luca Pasini, the era of coaches working exclusively for the national teams is over in Italy. He wrote in his blog that the contracts that will expire next year for Gianlorenzo Blengini and Davide Mazzanti will likely be the last ones that tied coaches solely for the national teams of Italy.
The procedure will be changed for the next four years and a national team coach won’t have an exclusive contract like now, but will also have the opportunity to coach a club. It’s going to be radical change compared to the last 30 years, more precisely since the era of Julio Velasco who was at the helm of the men’s national team. Such practice will be interrupted not only but mainly due to economy-related reasons.
