Leo Shoes PerkinElmer Modena beat Gioiella Prisma Taranto in the 12th round of the 2021/22 Italian Men’s Volleyball Championship and continued to climb the rankings.
Taranto started Round 12’s match of the 2021/22 SuperLega Credem Banca against the home side of Modena with extra gear and took the first set. However, after a hard-fought second set in which they prevailed with a two-point advantage, Andrea Giani’s players showed their real face and clinched three points which pushed them up from the fifth to third position in the charts. Modena’s winning streak now consists of nine games, six in the league. The Frenchman Earvin Ngapeth (70% reception; 20 digs, 45% perfect) and Dutchman Nimir Abdel-Azizi notched 21 points apiece on the winning side. Daniele Mazzone set up four blocks.
Beating Vero volley Monza 3-1 in the big match, Sir Safety Conad Perugia isolated themselves at the top of the charts, having three points more than Cucine Lube Civitanova (31-28). Top Volley Cisterna ended their losing streak of three games as they swept Consar RCM Ravenna.
