Ivan Zaytsev stated for sportowefakty.pl that it is not a good thing that many Slovenian stars are playing in Serie A.
“We wanted to play against Poland, not against Slovenia. I do not think that we will now have an easy semifinal. On the contrary! Representatives of Slovenia are playing in Serie A so they are well familiar with our team. Everyone are already talking about the finals, but we will firstly have to play with full power to overpower Slovenia” said Zaytsev and added that Italy have become a better team with Gianlorenzo Blengini as head coach.
“It is true that we have learned to play good in decisive matches With our previous coach we were losing all important games. Still I have to admit that the silver at World Cup gave us a lot of confidence. We went there not thinking about qualifying for the Olympic Games, we only wanted to show some good volleyball.”
