ITA W: Seven U16 Italian volleyball players hospitalized after heavy car accident

Heavy car accident occurred in Southern Italy, last night, in which seven young female volleyball players sustained injuries.

Seven girls aged between 14 and 16 years were injured in a car accident that occurred on the road which leads from Putignano to Gioia Del Colle, in Southern Italy, last night.

These seven girls were members of the U16 volleyball club Uisp’80 Putignano, traveling with a minibus to play the match for the provincial championship same evening.

The vehicle with the players ended up off the road after being repeatedly overturned by the impact with another vehicle ahead of him, ending up lying on the side. Young volleyball players have suffered various injuries and bruises and were all hospitalized in the several nearest hospitals. Only the driver of a minibus somehow escaped unhurt.
