Novara outclassed Serie A1 newcomers myCicero Volley Pesaro in straight sets, 3 x 25-19. Paola Egonu made 25 points for Novara which was an outstanding display knowing the fact that the game went into three sets only! The Argentinian Yamila Nizetich collected 14 points for the losing side.
Liu Jo Nordmeccanica Modena, the Serie A1 runners-up, achieved premiere win this season. Led by 18 team kill blocks (8 from the Belgian Laura Heyrman, who scored game-high 18 points), Modena surpassed home side Foppapedretti Bergamo, in which the Venezuelan Roslandy Acosta made 12 points, in 4 sets.
