Ms. Carol Charles Austin of Trinidad & Tobago was the lecturer on the central topics and the participants had the opportunity to exchange ideas and make questions during the very interactive sessions.
Charles Austin began her exposition explaining the importance of strengthening the national volleyball federations with a better internal organization and the selection of the right people for each position.
Then she continued with detailed information about the development of a marketing plan for the activities of the volleyball associations making emphasis on the different targets and also the properties of the institution.
In the afternoon session, she explained the audience how to prepare a development plan to be presented to the governmental authorities and the external agencies.
The activities commenced with a speech pronounced by FIVB President Dr. Ary Graça who exhorted all NORCECA National Federations Category I and II to take advantage of the opportunities being offered by the confederation and FIVB to develop volleyball and beach volleyball in their respective countries.
He urged them to seek also for assistance from local governments and private corporations.
“Opportunity is a key word,” he said. “You have to use this opportunity to then give opportunity to those in poor neighborhoods using volleyball as a social tool,” he said.
Dr. Graça also made reference to the 140 countries who took part in the qualification process towards the Olympic Games in London as part of the strategy of giving more opportunities.
Then, Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, President of NORCECA made a complete report on the qualification process within NORCECA towards Rio de Janeiro, one that will be put forward starting in 2014.
He also referred to the final qualification rounds towards de FIVB 2014 World Championships to take place in Italy and Poland.
Marte Hoffiz said to be very grateful to FIVB and its President “for all the support and the provision of funds to put in practice all the development plans and the organization of the tournaments towards Rio de Janeiro”.
