China claimed their second victory during the 2013 FIVB World Grand Prix in Hong Kong

China displayed grace under pressure in the second and third sets which saw Zeng Chunlei and Yang Junjing bombard the defence of Argentina with strong attacks. Zeng top scores with 16 points while Yang scored 14 points to carry China

It was an exciting start as both teams were in form and were observing the strategy of each other. Though Argentina led a maximum of 2 points against China, China could immediately get back the momentum soon after, enabling her to lead by 8-6 at the first TTO. When Argentina made a series of errors, China continued their lead with powerful attacks and solid blocks. Equipped with quick spikes and smart play, Emilce Sosa of Argentina tried to narrow the gap. After the second TTO by China, 16-11, China made some faults and allowed Argentina to win 4 consecutive points. However, Argentina made a lot of unforced errors, leading to China’s victory of the first set by 25-17.

In the beginning of the second set, China seemed to lose concentration and made several errors, but Argentina made similar errors and started losing momentum, giving China a 8-5 lead at first TTO. Both teams rallied to take lead but in vain. Argentina maintained a narrow advantage and China called for a time out. But still, China couldn’t stand the pace by committing many errors, letting Argentina open a 13-16 entering second TTO. From then on, it was an even game. Both teams fought neck to neck hoping to secure a significant lead to end the game. China exhibited a few efficient blocks at the net and showed greater concentration in the crucial moment and won the set by 26-24.

China opened the set with a series of strong spikes by Zhu Ting and managed to take a 7-4 lead. Argentina fought back by diversifying their attack tactics such as using more quick and back attacks. China maintained its momentum and continued to head the set after the first TTO. Thanks to Paula Yamila Nizetich powerful serves, Argentina received three points in a row and tied the set at 12-12. Both teams’ performance had been promising thereafter, with Argentina making more receiving and defense errors that lead to China’s victory of the match.
