WCHQ M: Cameroon and Algeria celebrated

Hosts Cameroon and favorites Algeria started in victorious manner at the African qualifying tournament for the FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship, Poland 2014 on Thursday.

Cameroon entertained their fans at the Palais des Sports in Yaoundé when they defeated Nigeria 3-1 (25-11, 22-25, 25-18, 25-19) in Pool T. Jean Ndaki led Cameroon’s scorers with 18 points, while Seyefa Dokiyya led Nigeria’s scorers with 21 points.

Algeria meanwhile won against Rwanda, 3-0 (25-23, 25-12, 25-18) in the second match on day one.

The winner of the five nation round robin tournament will secure a ticket to the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship to be held in Poland from August 30 to September 21.
