Cyprus indeed seized the gold medal at the inaugural edition of this tournament which was held in Liechtenstein back in 2006 while two years later the next generation was finally edged by Luxembourg as the players from the Grand Duchy enjoyed a better set ratio at the end of the competition.
The Championship was not held in 2010 as not enough teams had registered and so this time the Cypriot guys go for the maximum goal there in Scotland. “We do not know much about our opponents” says head coach Costas Delikostas, “but we will enter each game with the goal of scoring a victory”.
The group is finalizing its preparations for the Championship and will be leaving on Sunday night to Edinburgh via Frankfurt. “Our team is ready but we have to see how these guys will be able to cope with a very demanding schedule, as we have five consecutive matches to play and no rest day” adds Delikostas. Cyprus will open its campaign by playing rookie Ireland to continue with Luxembourg, Scotland, San Marino and round out the program by testing out the likes of Northern Ireland at “Ravenscraig Centre” in Motherwell.
