Vasas Óbuda are the new champions of the women’s MEVZA League. The team from the capital of Hungary celebrated with 3-0 (25-22, 25-16, 25-19) over OK Calcit Kamnik, winners of the regular MEVZA season, in the match for the gold medal at the Final Four tournament played in Vienna, Austria.
It took just 71 minutes for Vasas Óbuda to lift the prestigious trophy. Taylor Bannister with 20 points was the best scorer of the match, and her teammate from Vasas Óbuda Ayshan Abdulazimova added 13. Olivera Kostic scored 10 and Lucille Charuk 9 points for Calcit Kamnik.
The Slovenian team Nova KBM Branik Maribor defeated VB NÖ Sokol/Post Schwechat 3-1 (25-21, 23-25, 25-21, 25-14) and secured third place. Anamarija Galić with 22 points was the best scorer of the match, and her teammate Mirta Velikonja Grbac added 17 for Nova KBM Branik Maribor. Monika Chrtianska with 16 and Aida Mehić with 13 points were the top scorers of Sokol/Post Schwechat.
