In a recent blow to the Slovenian men’s volleyball team, they faced defeat against Poland in a gripping semifinal match with a scoreline of 3-1. Amidst the intense competition, Slovenian setter, Gregor Ropret, suffered a misfortune. While attempting a block, he accidentally landed on Polish player Aleksander Śliwka’s foot, causing him to sprain his ankle. This injury has ruled him out of the European Championship, including the upcoming bronze medal match against France in Rome.
However, in light of these circumstances, the European Volleyball Federation has approved a substitution. Stepping in for Ropret is experienced setter Dejan Vinčić. Vinčić, 36, recently underwent elbow surgery post his club season and has been working hard on his return. He has been actively training with his new club, Rapid București, and is set to join the Slovenian team in Rome.
