Taghavi, who has been serving as the federation’s secretary general since July 2020, steps into the shoes of Mohammadreza Davarzani. He faces the challenging task of uplifting the men’s national volleyball team, which is at risk of missing the 2024 Olympic Games following disappointing performances in the 2023 FIVB Volleyball Nations League and Olympic qualifiers.

To bolster the team’s chances, the federation recently appointed Brazilian coach Mauricio Motta Paes as the head coach of Iran men’s national team.
