BEL W: Freya Aelbrecht Retires After 17 Successful Years

Freya Aelbrecht, a renowned Belgian middle blocker and European Championship medalist, has announced her retirement from professional volleyball after a 17-year career. Aelbrecht’s notable achievements include a bronze medal with the Belgian national team at the 2013 European Championships and a silver medal in the same year’s CEV European League. On the club level, the 34-year-old secured titles such as a CEV Champions League silver medal, a CEV Challenge Cup silver, three Belgian championships, 2 Belgian National Cups, two French cup titles, and an Italian Cup. Throughout her career, Aelbrecht played in Belgium, Italy, Türkiye, Greece, Poland, Romania, France, and Japan.
