Current champions, Matin Varamin, lost to Shahrdari Tabriz at home in four sets, with partial 17-25, 30-28, 23-25, 22-25.
No matter Varamin went into playoff from the second place in Pool B, everybody expected them to easily eliminate the opponent. Maybe they will, but now they will have the harder job.
Pool leaders were successful at the start of the playoff – Paykan Teheran and Shahrdari Urmia VC while Mizan Khorasan VC defeated Novin Keshavarz Tehran VC after the tie-break and justified the role of a favorite.
