The co-hosts of EuroVolley are still in the race for the trophy! Although, they frightened the home fans in Antwerp a bit…

Belgium opened the game against Czech Republic the best they could – 25:12 was the result of the first set. Everyone probably thought at that moment that this would be just a walk in the park for the hosts, but the away squad shocked local fans by talking the second set – 25:23!

Still there is a very important thing about the second set. Czech Republic was up ahead by 24:19, while Belgium approached to 24:23 and almost made a huge comeback! That thing is important because home side gained the momentum and just continued with fantastic game in the third set.

Belgium opened that period with 5:1 and simply kept the margin all the way until the end of the set – 25:21. They did not stop there! The hosts opened the fourth set with 7:0! You can see the outcome – 25:9 and 3-1 for Belgium.

Lise Van Hecke was the top scorer in the winning side with 26 points, while Laura Heyrman added 17. In the away squad Aneta Havlickova made 14 points, Helena Havelkova added 10.
