Brayelin Martinez scored 25 points and Natalia Martinez 10 for the Dominican squad. Julymar Otero recorded 10 while Genesis Miranda and Paola Rojas scored 9 apiece for Puerto Rico.
“Dominican Republic showed a good level, with a very effective service and that complicated our performance,” said Puerto Rican captain Wilmarie Rivera.
“The matches against Puerto Rico are always exciting, and now we tried to go on by executing more things than in our first match against Trinidad and Tobago. We worked hard in defense and in attack,” emphasized Natalia Martínez about the Dominican team.
“We played a very high level match against their defense and also dominated offensively”, Victor Vázquez, Puerto Rican coach said. For Ariel Sainz, the result was a reflection of a tactical plan. “Our players followed it as we expected in our previous meeting. We have players with great potential and physical strength to dream about having a very important place (at this tournament).”
