But of course, this is not all. He also worked at the final match of the World Championship 1990, the Men’s Bronze Medal in Barcelona 1992 and the final matches of the FIVB World League 1190 and 2006, working in 8 final rounds. Today, Pereyra is Referee Supervisor for the International Volleyball Federation at their World Leagues and as FIVB Supervisor at different international competition and member of FIVB’s Game Ruling Committee.
During this last past days, the University professor travelled to Nicaragua to develop some FIVB training programs for the whole world.
“The FIVB, in its volleyball developing plans settled courses as part of the program VCP (Volleyball Training Program) for referees. These courses update the knowledge of referees and also the ruling for the same. The work heads towards having all referees around the world improving and developing their knowledge day after day to obtain better referees” expresses Pereyra.
A total of 25 students, including 8 Volleyball coaches that needed training in ruling and how to apply them participated of this course. “FIVB heads towards helping with money all training around the world, specially on those developing and poorer countries” emphasizes the former international referee.
“The experience of these courses enriches all a lot because one faces different realities, so counsseling in the training process becomes very important with different points of view. This is very important for Volleyball as it unites the criteria that comes out from the FIVB when refereeing, or for technical and officials’ work” he adds.
Pereyra is now in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic as International Referee lecturer in a course that takes place August 4th – 10th together with José Ramón Pérez Vento, from Cuba.
