Slovenia actually started out strong (8:6) but Belgium gradually stepped up the quality of their play to pocket the opening set at 25-20. Slovenia could not find a way to respond to the solid game offered by their opponents and the second set went to Belgium as well (25-18). Slovenia, fired by the home audience in Maribor, caught a good start in set 3 (8:4) but in the end it was Belgium that re-asserted their supremacy to go for the final 3:0.
Slovenia ends the home campaign in third place having beaten Montenegro but their quest for a ticket to make it to the European Championship looks complicated especially since Belgium will play at home next week.
