Ms Flanagan has commenced her duties on Monday September 3.

She fills a vacancy created by the recent resignation of Ms Joan Perry who has returned to the USA for personal reasons.

Mr Schacht said “the AVF is delighted that Ms Flanagan has accepted the position of AVF CEO. She brings to the position over two decades of sports administration experience.” He added, “the AVF was pleased that it received so many high quality applications for the position. This is a good indication that many people recognize the positive future of Australian volleyball.

Ms Flanagan has held various senior positions in the Australian Sports Commission / The Australian Institute of Sport. This experience will be invaluable in expanding Australian volleyball as it becomes an even more successful volleyball nation in the world.

Ms Flanagan said “I am delighted to accept the position of CEO of the Australian Volleyball Federation and to have the opportunity to be working directly for a sport with an exciting future in Australia and the world.
