Spain started well their match with Sweden (5:1) and dictated the pace of the game (12:8) to move up 20:11 and finished it off with the impressive score of 25-15. Things did not change in the second where Spain went up 6:2 and 8:3 anchored by Milagros Collar and then stretched the lead to a massive 16:5 by the second technical time-out. The final 25-11 was the logical consequence of the total domination displayed by the Spaniards. The score remained a little close in set 3 (8:6) and Sweden played well but still not enough to close the gap (17:15). Spain broke away at 23:18 and eventually pocketed the final 3:0 by sealing that set at 25-20.
“I am very happy with this win and the momentum we showed; we shall keep it also for our last match tomorrow” said Spain’s head coach Francisco Hervas.
“We are improving match after match and this makes me happy” stated Sweden’s mentor Tina Celinder-Nygren.
