The President of Rwandan Volleyball Federation, Gustave Nkurunziza, was arrested on corruption charges.

Nkurunziza was arrested in the city of Nyamirambo and detained. He was charged of using money that belonged to the national volleyball federation to bribe voters in the presidential race in January. Beside Nkurunziza, two other federation officials were also arrested – Executive Secretary and Treasurer.

According to the Nyamirambo Police Spokesperson, the investigation on Nkurunziza is still in progress and he will be brought to a court of law afterwards.

In above mentioned presidential elections, Nkurunziza won a second four-year term, beating former national team player Leandre Karekezi by 18-9 votes.
