“The most important thing was our determination. We were all very determined and this paved the way for our win on Tuesday” says libero Mariola Zenik recalling the splendid 3:0 home win over Italy’s AsystelCarnaghi VILLA CORTESE. Even though the result looks clear, it was not an easy match. “It only looked nice and easy but the truth is that we were very focused right from the first rally until the end. We felt very confident only in the third set as we had a good margin but you can never stop being focused as you play a side like VILLA CORTESE” she adds.
Before this game the situation looked very complicated for SOPOT that was ranked third in Pool B with six points and needed a 3:0 or 3:1 to get the second place behind Rabita BAKU. “The games we played with Rabita were also good but our determination was not enough to win. I think that with VILLA CORTESE we displayed our best performance of the season. We played good and most of all we won” concludes Zenik.
