Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie have returned to winning ways in the 2022–23 Polish Men’s Volleyball Championship.
The hit of the 2022–23 PlusLiga didn’t disappoint: a five-set battle in Zawiercie with a twist. Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie trailed vice-champions Jastrzębski Węgiel 1-2 in sets and defended the match ball in the fourth set. Eventually, the hosts turned the tide of the duel, and after the tie-break, they triumphed in the match valid for the 19th round – the best way to start 2023 in one of the strongest club competitions in the world. Before the encounter, Aluron hoped for revenge for the defeat in the first half of the regular season (0-3). The visitors, on the other hand, were counting on a breakthrough, as they had two defeats in a row behind them. All in all, Aluron remained vice leaders, while Jastrzębski are still third-placed.
Dawid Konarski top-scored on the winning side with 22 points. Miłosz Zniszczoł and Michał Szalacha recorded four blocks apiece while Aluron had 14 in total. The Frenchman Stéphen Boyer tallied 20 points for Jastrzębski.
