Trefl missed a great opportunity to win the first set. After an ace from Bartosz Gawryszewski, Bełchatów was in serious trouble (5-10) so their coach Miguel Ángel Falasca had to call for the timeout. Since the result 6-11, Bełchatów created a 6-0 run and took the lead (12-11) after the third ace from Nicolas Maréchal. Gawryszewski scored with a quick attack for a solid lead of Trefl (16-18), but it was not enough. Bełchatów had 22-20 and eventually three set points (24-23, 25-24, 26-25). They did not score any of them, while Trefl also had one (26-27) but failed. Mariusz Wlazły finally ended the set (29-27).

In the second set, Nicolás Uriarte scored two times in a row for Bełchatów’s lead of 4-1. Wlazły’s ace forced Andrea Anastasi to call for timeout (11-6). When double block stopped Sebastian Schwarz and Anastasi already called the second timeout, it was all over in this set (14-7). Counterattack attack that was ended by Andrzej Wrona’s  point, made Bełchatów only one set from a three-point victory.

Third set was full of uncertainty, just like the first one. Home team had the dominance (7-5, 10-8), but Trefl leveled the score (12-12). After an ace from Facundo Conte, it looked like Bełchatów could celebrate the victory (17-13). Trefl forced Maréchal to make mistakes in the reception (20-20).  Guests missed four set points, but not the third one – Murphy Troy scored an ace – 28-30.

Trefl was so strong in the fourth set. From the start they took initiative and led by 9-12, 13-17, 14-19 and finally 19-25.

Mateusz Mika’s successful attack that landed on a line gave Bełchatów a 3-1 lead in tie-break. Karol Kłos tied the score (5-5). Home team managed to gain the decisive advantage in the finish of the set – 11-8. However, a dramatic action ended in with the point of Gawryszewski and Trefl had match point (13-14). Bełchatów scored three points in a row and Wlazły in the last action of the match broke Trefl’s double block and gave his team a valuable win.

Mariusz Wlazły scored 26 points for Bełchatów, while Murphy Troy was the most efficient in the away team with 28 points.
