Out of the 15-player squad, only five players attended today’s training session of Skra before the trip to the Champions League clash against Lube, scheduled for Wednesday.
„At the moment, only Milczarek, Maréchal, Uriarte, Gromadowski and Rodríguez are able to play. The rest of the players and several members of the coaching staff spent the morning in the hospital for infusions. Stomach problems of players began on the night of Sunday to Monday and the cause is probably a virus or food poisoning,“ said Skra’s President, Konrad Piechocki.
He added that he reviewed rules of the competition conducted by the CEV and postponing of a match was not possible. The only option for Skra was to suffer technical defeat, but they might end up with high penalties from the CEV.
Piechocki expressed hope that medical staff of the team will be able to put players on their feet for the match in Italy.
