Alexey Spiridonov, the Russian star, didn’t play much in this final series but nevertheless, he was very happy.

„We won due to teamwork. Emotions are huge. We had to start winning once. Someone starts at age of 18, someone like me at 26 and some never win. Better late than never.“

Alexey Verbov, the libero of Zenit, expressed his admiration to Belogorie’s players.

„Tough matches. But, I personally wanted to play against Belogorie. This is the case when the opponent makes a volleyball holiday of your matches. I did not want Belogorie to stumble somewhere. Zenith wanted exactly this final – with the best of our potential opponents. As a result, we got the gold, on which we can be proud of.“

The coach og Belogorie, Gennadiy Shipulin, said that his team did its best but it wasn’t enough for such a strong team like Zenit.

„You’ve seen everything: the guys gave their best and showed brigh, outstanding volleyball, a volleyball comparable to a beautiful symphony of orchestra. I am very glad that we have made a small step forward, because the opponent is a very serious and it was very serious series.“
