“I do not think that there is a problem of racism in Russia. Instead, there is a problem of education and the fact that parents aren’t telling their children enough things. These children need to have better education in their schools and to learn more about the real life. For a long time I was convinced that not all people are able to understand simple things. For example, in small towns they haven’t seen a lot of guys like me, so my appearance for them is something unusual and unexpected. Therefore, their reaction is different. And I understand that. That is not racism, that is lack of education.”

“I want to say that, in general, people in Russia are very polite and pleasant. In my first year in Russia someone from the stands shouted a very nasty thing to me, and I reacted very emotionally. I walked over to him and said – ‘Hey man, wash your mouth before you want to communicate with someone.’ And he remained silent. I grew up with the understanding that all the people must be respected.”
