He was not pleased with Leon’s performance and he tried to explain it during the time-out. Just after the Belogorie had won the third set, they got 4-0 lead in the fourth. It was a sign for Alekno to call for a break and to give some advice.
“Come on, get ready and hit that ball to the court! Is that so hard to understand? You have g…, hit the ball hard. Do you hear? The entire hall is watching at you. The entire hall,” shouted Alekno toward Leon.
It didn’t work, as Leon stayed at the low percentage in the attack (41%).
After the game, Alekno stated:
“If he continues to play like this, he won’t play.”
Obviously, Wilfredo Leon has to take Alekno’s words very serious.
